Discover the elegance of wines from the Northeast
Originating from the Agreste region of Pernambuco, in the city of Garanhuns, Mello Winery is located on the Borborema plateau, nearly one thousand meters above sea level, with an average annual temperature of 21 degrees.
Today, we have almost 7 hectares planted with Vitis vinifera grapes, with Malbec as the star of our vineyard, accompanied by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir.
Our white varieties include Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay.
Our first harvest was in 2023, producing a magnificent red wine from the Malbec grape, Alvorecer. This label reflects the best of the Garanhuns Terroir, delivering a wine with an intense red color, fruity aromas reminiscent of plums and blackberries, medium body, good acidity, and a well-balanced alcohol content of 14.2%. Treated with great care and dedication from the vine to the final result in the bottle, it spent 6 months aging in first-use French oak barrels (Taransaud) and an additional 6 months evolving in the bottle. A true masterpiece in a glass from Brazil’s Northeast.
We also produce the Malbec Alvorecer Rosé, a light pink, clear, and bright wine with fruity aromas recalling strawberries and red berries, light-bodied with high acidity. Ideal for enjoying the warm days on the beaches of the Northeast.
In the 2024 harvest, we happily repeated the production with the highest quality grapes and wines. Our wine family expanded with the arrival of our Sete Laços Malbec Reserva 2023, a wine fermented in concrete tanks and aged for 12 months in first-use French oak barrels. This resulted in an extremely elegant wine with ripe, soft tannins, medium acidity, medium body, and aromas evoking dark fruits (blueberry, plum, and blackberry) along with notes of chocolate, oak, and vanilla.
